A key indicia of the Obama Administration is the appointment of at least 35 Czars to rule over various aspects of our government and economy, more than the Russians had in a millennium. The czars are on the U.S. taxpayers' payroll, but they are not vetted or confirmed by the U.S. Senate. Barack Obama's Food Czar, Sam Kass, is officially labeled Senior Policy Adviser for Healthy Food Initiatives. Everybody laughed when Senator Tom Coburn asked Supreme Court nominee Elena Kagan if it would be constitutional for Congress to order Americans "to eat three vegetables and three fruits every day." Kagan declined to give a straightforward answer, maybe because she knew that exactly that type of dictatorial mandate is coming soon. Far scarier is Obama's appointment of his new Health Czar, Donald Berwick, to be the top administrator over Medicare and Medicaid. The life-and-death powers he will exercise, the huge sums of taxpayers' money he will direct, and the dishonest way Obama evaded the Senate's constitutional right to interrogate and reject him by giving Berwick a recess appointment, make this the most shocking of all appointments. Czar Berwick is on record as saying, "Excellent health care is by definition redistributional." He praised Britain's socialized medicine system as "a global treasure" and "I love it." He admitted in an interview, "The decision is not whether or not we will ration care — the decision is whether we will ration with our eyes open." Note the imperial "we." That's the way czars talk. Obama's Green Jobs Czar, Van Jones, had to exit in disgrace after he admitted that "I was a Communist." Anita Dunn, the White House communications czar (who led Obama's war on Fox News), said that Mao Tse-tung was one of her two favorite "political philosophers" whom "I turn to most" for answers to important questions. Mao was a ruthless savage, not a philosopher, who holds the record for ordering the mass murder of more people (50 to 100 million) than anyone else in history. We thought Anita was thrown under the bus after the Mao embarrassment, but now she's back with an assignment from the Obama Administration to convince the American people that we really like Obamacare after all. The celebrity heads of this taxpayer-funded propaganda project are former Senator Tom Daschle and Ted Kennedy's widow Victoria. Obama's Regulatory Czar, Cass Sunstein, wrote a book in 2008 in which he declared that the government "owns the rights to body parts of people who are dead or in certain hopeless conditions, and it can remove their organs without asking anyone's permission." So, after the death consultants authorized in Nancy Pelosi's health care bill convince you to reject life-saving procedures, the organ- transplant team can remove your body's organs immediately. Czar Sunstein also argues that animals are entitled to have lawyers to sue humans in court. Bow, wow; more business for trial lawyers. Obama's Safe Schools Czar, Kevin Jennings, founded the Gay, Lesbian, Straight Education Network (GLSEN), a homosexual activist group that now has thousands of chapters at high schools across the nation. GLSEN chapters and materials have promoted sex between young teens and adults and sponsored "field trips" to gay pride parades. Obama's Science Czar wrote in a college textbook that compulsory "green abortions" are an acceptable way to control population growth. We assume that what makes an abortion green is when the motive for the killing is population control to serve environmentalist dogma. And we thought the Rev. Jeremiah Wright and the 1960s bombthrower Bill Ayers were embarrassments to Barack Obama when he was running for President! We never dreamed Obama would actually appoint such a collection of weirdos. |
