The Declaration of Independence:
A Betrayal of the American Dream

by Dr. Sal Martingano

"Socialism takes over a country by ignorance and ever increasing entitlements," according to Sal Martingano. He says socialism means "citizens become totally dependent on the government" and that they eventually find themselves in "bondage." This will happen when Americans vote to have the government support them or are so poorly educated that the Constitution no longer means anything to them.

The Declaration of Dependence paints a picture of America a trillion dollars in debt and vulnerable to deceit because of the "dumbing down" of citizens who are no longer able to do the due diligence required to keep the government in check.

Those who read Ayn Rand's 1957 book Atlas Shrugged see what she predicted unfolding today. Rand chronicled what happens when "government entities go astray" and "people are oppressed by activists hell bent on changing society and the economy to meet their agenda," according to the author.

Martingano writes that totalitarianism succeeds "when citizens are willing to trade freedom for the perception of safety." This is what happened with health care; politically motivated individuals deliberately alarmed citizens about an alleged health care crisis. Congress didn't read the 2,000 page law before signing Obamacare, and although the majority of Americans disapprove of it, Congress fails to stop it when they can.

The healthcare system is now de-facto controlled by the federal government. The author predicts that as it is currently structured, Obamacare will fail. Then the government will further 'protect" citizens by instituting the single-payer, fully governmental system the radicals wanted all along.

The media leans left and is "bought and sold to the highest bidder." As an example of media deception, the author compares reporting about Republican Governor Chris Christie and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, a Democrat. The governor's staffers' lane closure hijinks in New Jersey gets the same amount of coverage as Hillary Clinton willfully allowing an American ambassador and three others to be killed in Benghazi, Libya.

Martingano is fearful of United Nations Agenda 21, called "Sustainable Development for the 21st Century," which ultimately would lead to elimination of property rights, redistribution of wealth, the federal government as "surrogate parents" to children, and the end of national sovereignties in favor of a world government, or One World Order.

To stop this "silent coup," Americans need to educate themselves and not simply depend on elected representatives to protect them. Instead, they must demand protection of freedoms as outlined in the Constitution.
